The Journey of the Teapot... (Drawing Elective)

Sustained Measured Drawings.

Fine Liner Pen and Ink

Pencil (first ever measured drawing!)

Elective

I chose the Drawing Elective for my 1st year over jewellery, millinery and photography because I felt quite under-confident with my drawing abilities, I hoped the elective would visually improve my drawings.
From the various activities that were demonstrated over the 4 days, I will be definitely continuing the use of two methods I have learnt.
One being Measured Drawing, this was my first introduction to measured drawing and the idea terrified me! But once I plotted my points and concentrated on the live scene I really surprised myself and was proud of the drawing I produced. The second method I enjoyed was the journey from 2D to 3D and vice versa; we began by drawing an everyday item (teapot) in an abstract style then changed media and made sculptures from wire based on our drawings. These were then projected onto the wall and reverted back to paper. The method could continue and I was impressed with the journey of an initial 3D object.
I am pleased I chose the Drawing Elective as I feel I have learnt some valuable new skills to help me within fashion. I was also beginning to show signs of my own individual style of drawing towards the end of the Elective!
